Platform will host a new stage of Fundamenta, architect Aldo Amoretti’s photographic exhibition representing his interpretation of architecture, immersed in the context of which it is a part. The exhibition will be open from 19 to 30 July at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice, as part of Platform’s initiative, The New Together.
The exhibition aims to investigate the mutual relationship of architecture with its context, that is, how the project is influenced by the environment, the surrounding landscape and at the same time is able to condition and even orient it.
At the centre of this investigation, there is the gaze and personal representation of Aldo Amoretti and his shots, selected not to create a catalogue of exempla, but as the representation of the outcome of that “visual acoustics”, through which the author has interrogated some nodal questions of architectural design.
The exhibition is thus divided into nine pairs of photographs of works by authors such as Zumthor, Kollhoff, Pawson, Märkli, each of them called upon to express one of the nine themes identified among those considered to be the foundations of architecture.
The images of each pair have been conceived to enter into dialogue with each other: an invitation to listen and to personal critical reflection, urging the spectators themselves, therefore, to somehow take part in that silent conversation through images.
The Exhibition will be hosted at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice within the Pavilion designed by the Marco Ciarlo Associati Architecture Studio. With its modular structure and opaque black colour, the exhibition design recreates a perfect place to observe the works on display, while maintaining a strong dialogue with the marvellous and imposing location with the total openness at the top.
