Miracle Living is the new address in Shanghai dedicated to leisurewear and household linen, conceived and designed by Hangar Design Group and Vudafieri-Saverino Partners on the basis of key concepts such as fluidity, eclecticism and contamination. Located along Tongren Road, in the central and prestigious Jing’an district, Shanghai’s most important business district, Miracle Living is more than a showroom, it is a concept store of 320 m2 on two levels: in addition to the Silky Miracle silk collections and those of the historic Italian brand Frette, visitors can admire contemporary works of art displayed in the dedicated gallery and take a break in the relaxation corner where a bar has been created. A multifunctional space in which textile products coexist with pieces of art selected for temporary exhibitions.
The concept of the project, inspired by the tactile softness and supple movement of silk, was developed in a space that previously housed an art gallery, with the aim of optimizing its flow. The space was designed to create harmony between the materials and the soft colour palette chosen. Precious materials such as marble, stone and brass with their material textures become sober elements, flanked by other rougher elements such as resins or fibreglass, and other more impalpable ones such as velvets. A skilful play of balances that creates sensual tactility and a warm, yet delicate, atmosphere for the entire space. The designers’ idea was to create a neutral environment in which the fabrics on display, with their colours and shades, could be the real protagonists of the story. A very subdued colour palette was therefore selected, predominantly opaque in contrast with the glossy tones of the textile collections on sale, displayed on light, essential shelving embellished with brass references.
The sinuous lines of the plaster on the ceilings, the lighting and the choice of furniture pieces accompany customers in fluid movements. From the upholstered Julep sofa by Swedish designer Jonas Wagell for Tacchini to the Ico chairs for Cassina, each element is in line with the designers’ concept based on softness and sinuous movements. The staircase connecting the two floors of the showroom, wrapping around it like a cocoon, has been created following curved, sinuous lines, and develops from the main column by ascending in a spiral. In front of a wavy wood panelling, a relaxation corner has been created with a bar reserved for guests, dominated by a bamboo viscose carpet, fibre optic bundles creating a starry sky effect. On this floor there is also a small art gallery housing collections and temporary exhibitions. Miracle Living thus stands as a memorable shopping experience that from the movement of the silk creates its own narrative visible in every detail.
