Studio Bump has realised Flip Blue, a project that transforms a flat located in the centre-levante of Genoa into an inspiring retreat for a young couple with a strong passion for music and pop art.
The flat is located on the top floor of a building with a splendid view of the Genoa hills.
The contrast between the flat and the rest of the building emerges from the very first moment; the stately style of the building, in fact, dating back to the first half of the 20th century, vanishes as soon as one crosses the threshold of Flip Blue, where intense colours and interwoven geometric shapes are in strong contrast with the building’s traditional style.
At the entrance, a large custom-made bookcase recessed into the side wall: characterised by a sliding metal ladder, it becomes a distinctive element that distinguishes the entire wall.
The internal distribution has been redesigned to obtain a spacious living area, ideal for hosting friends and spending moments of relaxation, making it the beating heart of the home.
The open-plan kitchen is conceived as a play on geometry: the blue wall modules are reflected on the resin floor of the same colour, identifying a space defined but not delimited by vertical elements, on which stands a white marble island.
The distribution space of the corridor is conceived as a “colour box”, guiding us towards the sleeping area composed of two bedrooms and a space for music and leisure.
The atmosphere of the bathroom evokes that of a tropical forest. This recall is particularly evident inside the niche and especially on the ceiling of the shower: made of frosted glass, it conceals above it different types of tropical leaves illuminated by a beam of light that penetrates, ideally, through the dense foliage of the forest.
