FaseModus brings the Mediterranean to the Jacob Cohën shops

Architect Stefano Cellerino, co-founder of the Milan-based architecture studio FaseModus, is responsible for the concept of the new Jacob Cohën boutique in Palma de Mallorca. The project reflects the image of the luxury denim brand, creating a metropolitan, contemporary and sophisticated style.
In line with this aesthetic, the new Mediterranean concept maintains the elegance of brass, with a nod to the naval industry, and concrete details. These elements are complemented by the use of ‘naval’ wood and light blue tones, giving the space a fresh and refined look.

The design for the ‘marine’ boutiques thus introduces a material mood inspired by the sea, with simplified furnishings using free-standing modules that are flexible and rich in materials. These modules, which are easy to install, echo the brand’s shop system, thus avoiding internal masonry work.
The walls of the boutique play on shades of blue, interspersed with cement panels, in perfect Jacob Cohën style.
The layout maintains a link with the brand’s other shops, thanks to the use of vertical brass elements, a majestic chandelier in the centre of the shop and a reception desk at the back, opposite the partition wall separating the fitting rooms.
From the outside, the space is accessed through a bright and linear outdoor area, which echoes the interior colours of the boutique and is enriched with plants, creating a harmonious and welcoming environment.

We are very proud of this collaboration with the Jacob Cohën brand,’ explains architect Cellerino. ‘Our project to revisit the concept starts from a profound respect for the brand’s philosophy and the preservation of its characteristic elements with the addition of peculiarities strictly related to the marine and Mediterranean mood’.

In addition to the boutique in Palma de Mallorca, the brand also recently opened a new boutique in the heart of Rome, in Via del Babuino, as well as two pop-up stores inside the fashion retailer Breuninger in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, and a corner inside the Rinascente in Milan.
The Rome layout, designed by Cellerino in collaboration with Ilaria Marelli Design, echoes the sophisticated and elegant spirit that distinguishes Jacob Cohën’s metropolitan projects around the world.
In the new store in Rome, furnishings and panelling have been designed ad hoc at different heights in respect of the prestigious architectural space, characterised by vaulted ceilings, stucco decorations and a route that winds along rooms of irregular dimensions that follow one another.
From the entrance, a passageway conceived as an emotional transition leads to the display areas for the men’s and women’s collections respectively.

In the menswear area, the furnishings are in wood and brass, and on the walls are cement panels decorated with the logo. In the women’s area, on the other hand, only brass with glass has been used, together with cement finishes on the walls, to lend lightness to the environment. Great attention was also paid to the lighting through a mix of chandeliers, spotlights and LED strips to emphasise the preciousness of the furnishings and walls, as well as the clothing on display.

The designs for the Breuninger pop-up stores in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart were elaborated by taking up the theme of tailoring and the colours brass and blue, which characterise the fashion house, in an ironic and poetic way. The concept of the display therefore re-proposes typical elements, such as buttons, thimbles, pins, in a pop key. Realised out of scale, they become displays for the product itself, which is thus enhanced within a sophisticated and contemporary environment, with attention to detail.

Completely renovated, the new Milanese space at la Rinascente in Corso Vittorio Emanuele is characterised by a sophisticated design that, with details in glass, brass and concrete, highlights the quality and craftsmanship of the iconic luxury jeans made in Italy.
