As part of the annual XIII Conference of Unesco Creative Cities, in Fabriano (AN) from the 10th to the 15th of June, on Thursday 13th of June, at Padiglione Rinasco, Palazzo Podestà, there will be the talk “Event-able, Cities and Legacies of World Events”, organized by PPAN.
Among the lecturers Mario Kaiser, Design Advisor & Project Manager for World Events (Principal Design Advisor for London 2012 Olympic Games, Consultant for World Events such as Expo Milan 2015 ), Renato Quaglia, European Festival Association EFA-AEF and Foundation FOQUS, Susanna Sieff, Sustainability & VIP Hospitality Foundation Cortina 2021, Sonia Pallai, consultant for the Centre of Tourism Studies Florence.
Main goal of the event is to present the book Event-able, Host cities of world events dedicated to the relationship between World Events and Host Cities, with a particular focus on the effects of legacies and the physical transformation of places. The book is analysing some italian and international case studies – from Milan to Palermo, up to Parma, Cortina and Matera – and it includes 20 of the 79 World Events investigated by www.event-able.org a platform that will be online from the day of the Talk on 13th of June 2019. Among the professionals that have colloborated to this book Flexible Urbanisms by Ricky Burdett, Events and city making by Alejandro Gutierrez, The great european capitals of culture, by Lucio Argano, Recoding Palermo by Maurizio Carta, Milano Today, after the Expo by Stefano Gallizzi.
The project comes from an idea by Mario Kaiser and has been developed in collaboration with PPAN. It includes a live database of World Events since 2004, which are explored, analysed and classified in accordance with the show nature as Sport, Culture, Economy and Religion. World Events can be a unique opportunity for a city to plan and manage its future and its long term legacies. The result is a unique database created and supported by a Community of experts, professionals and students whose main focus is the relationship of the World Event with the Host City, offered as a tool for city makers, development companies, designers and specialized consultants.
