Dreaming of an endless summer

All the “Dolce Vita” of the Amalfi Coast: the gentle embrace of the sea with its soft, steady rhythm; the breathtaking view of the iconic colorful village, with winding streets and houses climbing up the cliffs. It’s a stunning portrait of Italian beauty, in one of its most unforgettable locations, offering moments of pure happiness and serenity. Here, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, lies the latest “sea view” project from architect and interior designer Valentina Autiero. She has been responsible for the spectacular redesign of the renowned restaurant Le Tre Sorelle, one of the oldest and most beloved in the area, directly facing Spiaggia Grande beach on the edge of the lively coastal town.

In direct connection with the infinite, living presence of the sea and the stunning panoramic views, Valentina Autiero’s design pays homage to the maritime element that surrounds the dining areas at Le Tre Sorelle, with all its captivating charm of sound, light, and color. The architect creates a bold and scenic space that emerges between the dining room and the kitchen, where—deliberately contrasting with the restaurant’s traditional ambiance—the design features vibrant marine tones that reflect and amplify the extraordinary beauty of this soul-stirring location.

The sea has always been an endless source of inspiration for Valentina Autiero: in her work, lines, materials, light and shadow, solids and voids all come together in unexpected ways, weaving a harmonious design that goes beyond mere decoration. Instead, these elements become living presences, capturing and reflecting fragments of life, and setting them on new and surprising paths.

This design creates a space that is warm, lively, and functional: a custom-made volume that serves the restaurant’s specific needs while also functioning as a bar with a distinct Mediterranean flair—perfect for a quick snack, a cocktail, or a classic Italian espresso. The space also provides essential storage and a display area to showcase the fresh catch of the day.

The fluid and sinuous lines of the environment are characterized by three distinct oval recesses, each with a different shape—a symbolic tribute to Giovannina, Adelina, and Nannina, the three sisters who founded the restaurant in the early 1950s, which has been passed down through generations.

In this context, the two smaller ovals serve as elegant bottle displays, while the central one features a bar top that opens up to allow for direct interaction with the bartender. Breaking the vibrant blue that dominates the entire surface, perforated metal panels with a contrasting copper finish are strategically placed to enhance the visual continuity and mood of the space.

These copper panels back the two smaller ovals, creating hypnotic, backlit displays for the bottles. The central oval has larger perforations, providing a space to store citrus and other fruits—adding a burst of color and lighting up the bar area, hinting at the Mediterranean cocktails that await in this charming corner of the restaurant, with its spectacular sea view.
