‘Designer Under 35 – Creative Flows’ is a path dedicated to young designers, where design is not conceived as a static matter, but rather as a continuous flow of ideas, forms and functionalities, through new perspectives, inspiring a sense of movement and change.
The initiative was born on the occasion of the fourth edition of the Genoa Design Week held from 24 to 28 May 2023: DiDe, the Genoa Design District, organised a call for emerging designers under 35. The designers selected as a result of the call had the opportunity to set up small spaces free of charge, inside some of the atriums of the most beautiful and historical buildings located in the oldest part of the district.
Since then, the initiative has been renewed every year and is repeated at every edition of Genoa Design Week. In 2025, the theme that will guide the selection of young designers will be ‘Less is Design’, where the concept is not simply the act of taking away, but of giving value to what really matters. The designers’ research will therefore focus on the values of simplicity, reduction of material, reuse, recycling, innovation of traditions, design for the social and for the person as a driver for change.
‘Designer Under 35’ in 2025 will be a real path designed for young designers, where the flow of ideas and forms will develop as themes capable of acting as cornerstones of design. The initiative aims to explore and research the value of essential and functional design, which is perceived rather than seen.
