Véronique de Soultrait collaborates with Élitis to create the new wall covering Cordes Sensibles. Thedesigner and artist, who has her studio in Lyon, produces a new and original art through the inlaying of ropes, thus bringing the weave into a pictorial universe with Art Deco influences, elevating the rope through artisanal gestures and ancient techniques.
The new line, through the use of rope in a contemporary key, is characterised by hand-painted patterns that come to life through vivid colours. Rope in wall coverings reveals its curves through creations with graphic figures, infinitely interwoven patterns and geometric relief compositions.
In the new ‘cordelière’, Véronique de Soultrait applies her freedom of expression to design and interior decoration, creating unique pieces, paintings and wall compositions for the biggest names in the industry. Playing with materials, textures and even dyes, subtly coloured ropes are meticulously woven, twisted and criss-crossed under her deft hands. The designer reinterprets geometric motifs inspired by the world of the decorative arts and re-proposes animal and plant forms in pure visions of rigorous shapes.
Élitis is appreciated worldwide for thecontemporary and artistic influences that characterise its style and make its products unique. Wall coverings, wallpapers and home accessories take shape in the creative workshop in Toulouse, France. The team of designers – who come from the worlds of art, fashion and advertising – give life to creations that sublimate the meeting of innovation and tradition.
