Cleto Munari Eyewear

Cleto Munari‘s eyewear collection was presented at the historic Mondelliani optical shop in Rome.
Concave and convex, empty and full, each shape is a stratification of Cleto Munari’s artistic and intellectual experiences.
The collection is composed of thirteen shapes, declined in concave and convex versions: ten optical models, two sunglasses’ models, a limited edition model in two colour variants.

Colour is an indispensable part of the compositional game: the development of two processing techniques to sculpt the acetate has enabled extremely different chromatic results to be achieved. Each sheet assembles three colours in unique combinations. The thickness of the layers of colour is fine-tuned to give a volumetric effect, each element is combined by affinities or contrasts in colour and form, pursuing the search for the uniqueness of things.

In his 50 years of artistic production, Cleto Munari once again chooses to express his creativity in a different sphere, creating a collection of signature objects poised between art and design. Colour is fundamental here: it cleverly reveals Cleto Munari’s eclectic personality and his playful approach to design.
Colour is much more than a ‘verb’ for me: it is essence like form,” declares the artist. Cleto Munari gives life to an imagery that holds the pleasure of research: in the object – imagined, conceived, realised – the nonchalant and ironic approach of its author is manifested. “Design is an art of representing the world in forms is a translation of creative thought into joy, geometry and colour“.
