Cersaie closed its five-day exhibition with more than 62,000 visitors

Cersaie closed its five-day exhibition with over 62,000 visitors, including more than 24,000 international operators. Attendance at 56% of the overall 2019 result.

The 38th edition of Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings held in Bologna from 27 September to 1 October, lived up to the high expectations of the companies that believed in the possibility of investing in the exhibition, to return to meet their customers directly, presenting the latest product innovations. In fifteen fully occupied pavilions of the Bologna Exhibition Centre – with a total surface area of 150,000 square metres623 companies exhibited, including 361 from the ceramic tile sector, 87 from the bathroom furnishings sector and 175 from the installation, raw materials, new surfaces and service sectors. A strongly international exhibition, as confirmed by 238 foreign exhibitors – 38% of the total – and 28 countries represented.

Over the five days of the exhibition, Cersaie 2021 welcomed 62,943 visitors, with a constant flow of visitors over the various days. Despite the difficult context of international markets, still affected by the difficulties linked to the pandemic, especially for intercontinental travel, foreign visitors totalled 24,019, i.e. 38% of the total, while there were 38,924 Italian visitors. Journalists registered 464 total admissions, of which 150 were from abroad. The overall attendance figure reaches 56% compared to the evidence of the 2019 edition.

The fair was held in compliance with all the regulations required to allow safe participation, in particular with the application of the Green Pass not only for entry to the event, but also for the set-up and dismantling phases, which are currently underway. The application of the Green Pass has made possible a large participation of primary customers from Italy and the main European markets, less so from Asia where the current rules regarding the control of the pandemic on return have not made possible a significant flow of visitors.

“I am convinced that the investments made by the 623 exhibitors at Cersaie 2021 have had the best possible return from an exhibition that has confirmed its national and international importance among distributors, architects, installers and real estate operators,” said Giovanni Savorani, Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica. The ceramic tile market has been doing well for a number of months now on the various markets, thanks to the healthiness, hygiene and environmental sustainability intrinsic to our materials and a growing focus on the quality of living that our products are able to provide for the home and other environments in which people live. As we represented to the representatives of national and local institutions who paid us considerable attention with their visit to the fair, this recovery cannot be compromised by the devastating levels reached by energy costs, which require urgent action at EU level”.

“Cersaie’s wide-ranging programme of events enjoyed significant participation and effectiveness,” noted Emilio Mussini, Confindustria Ceramica’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs. The almost 600 participants at the Lectio Magistralis by Pritzker Shigeru Ban, the presence in the Contract Hall of ten leading Italian and European architectural firms, the exhibition of the G124 project commissioned by Renzo Piano for the redevelopment of the suburbs with the commitment of young architects, the eighteen Press Cafés over the five days, the seminars on ceramic slabs at the Città della Posa, the 180 Cersaie Business delegates – who came thanks to the valuable collaboration with ICE from some of our main markets such as Germany, North America and the Gulf area – are just some of the aspects that qualified this edition. Cersaie continues until 8 October through Cersaie Digital, a showcase of products and a place for matching exhibitors and visitors, a valid support for the physical participation of visitors that will certainly be developed for future editions”.

The next edition of Cersaie will be held in Bologna from 26 to 30 September 2022.
