Annalisa Zorzettig was established in the hills of Spessa di Cividale, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, from the passion and work of the Zorzettig family, who started the winemaking business in 1874. Since then, the family has always carried on this activity with great respect for the environment and the native vines, until today it has become a real point of reference for the region.
‘Wine is a pleasure. The child of nature’s generosity, of human skill and care, it becomes a gift. It is a symbol of passion, of life, of the earth, of conviviality. It builds relationships and enhances emotions in the flow of our everyday life.’
This is how Annalisa Zorzettig defines the fulcrum and passion behind the daily work of her winery, which she has been running since 2006 with the aim of preserving the link between her wines and the Friulian terroir expressed in purity and elegance.
The company is committed to enhancing the territoriality and specificity of a wonderful and multifaceted territory such as Friuli: Annalisa Zorzettig’s vineyards are located almost on the border with Slovenia, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli between the areas of Spessa, Ipplis, Prepotto and Premariacco. It is from these lands that the wines derive their great specificity: these are in fact sunny hills where the roots go deep into the earth composed of what in Friulian is called ponca, a sedimentation of marine origin, very rich in minerals and nutrients that give rise to grapes with identity characteristics, such as flavour and longevity. The mild climate of these areas means that the vines can grow sheltered from cold air currents thanks to the Julian Alps and receive temperate breezes from the south coming up from the Adriatic Sea. An incredibly perfect combination for white grape varieties.
The commitment of Annalisa Zorzettig and her cellar is not to overshadow what grows in the bottle, but on the contrary to enhance these peculiarities and make them known to the world in an exact balance of knowledge and territory.
The founding values of the character of the company and of Annalisa Zorzettig’s wines lie not only in the strong bond with the land of Friuli, but also in the constant commitment to the search for purity and identity of the product and in the authenticity of the winery that produces it.
Zorzettig is family, history, future: a winery of authentic winemakers where commitment and passion are the main driving forces. It is precisely for this reason that Annalisa Zorzettig’s wines carry their own distinctive imprint and their own distinct personality.
‘Quality is an abstract term,’ explains oenologist Saverio Di Giacomo. ’I believe it can be embodied in the work of preserving in the best possible way the fruit that arrives in the cellar, preserving that which grows in the countryside and telling it with elegance and cleanliness. In quality there is the responsibility to adopt the most correct techniques to protect the wine, in the most natural way possible’.
Responsibility in the cellar translates into placing great care in every choice, in every step of production: in fact, every work is marked by long-term reflection, by a tension towards the future through sustainability choices. Sustainability in its broadest sense, that which aims at progress with responsibility, without compromising the possibilities of future generations. This is why Zorzettig is committed to environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The winery cultivates and preserves biodiversity every day: in fact, since 2016 it has adhered to the SQNPI protocol, choosing to abandon synthetic insecticides and take advantage of biological control by installing ecological infrastructure. The aim is to bring the ecosystem to a state of equilibrium that favours the prosperity of all the living beings that inhabit it.
Another important action undertaken in recent years is the installation of ‘ecological infrastructures’ for the preservation of specific biodiversity. In these identified areas within the estates, native species of different varieties have been planted, as well as almost forgotten fruit trees.
In addition to the care for the environment, the winery is distinguished by a marked sensitivity towards the community that gravitates around the company, a family of people looking in the same direction, to grow together.
In 2024, the winery’s new production facility was inaugurated with a careful renovation of the existing structure, according to eco-sustainability criteria. At the centre of the intervention is not only energy saving but also a series of measures to improve the functionalitỳ of the spaces (interior, exterior and logistics), as well as the recovery of waste water through an innovative purification system. The winery today produces 800,000 bottles on 120 hectares. All the wines are expressions of indigenous Friulian grape varieties, with some small gems such as pignolo, schioppettino and picolit.
