It is with Michel Oberhammer‘s new management today that Visual Display is called upon to restructure and relaunch Baita Pié Tofana, from brand to interior design.
The first milestone in the project was the decision to confirm the old plaque-sign affixed to the façade of the hut from the very beginning as the central point of the re-branding. The sign became the hut’s trademark to which the payoff “authentic food and fine bottles” was added to describe the essence of the new offer: a refined, all-Italian menu and a wine list created by Michel himself with more than 500 international labels.
The project involved a total refurbishment of the interior of the rooms which, thanks to the skilful hands of the local craftsmen, also led to the consolidation of the original structure.
The interior walls and ceiling have been entirely replaced by a new panelling in old waxed fir boards. The elegant combinations of fabrics chosen for the benches in shades of dove grey and petrol green, the light linen curtains and the copper lamps with amber glass create a welcoming and refined atmosphere, adding a touch of glamour to this location that is both traditional and contemporary at the same time.
The historic fireplace in the “Larin” room has been replaced by a new, technologically more advanced fireplace, allowing customers to eat around the fire and enjoy it to the full. The adjoining room, with its custom-designed raw wood tables, features a large backlit wooden and copper back-lit bottle cabinet to underline the Baita’s oenological vocation.
The exterior has also undergone total make up. The facades have been cleaned of the dark varnish patina to leave the larch wood in its natural state and allow it to age.
At the same time the burnished brass lamps, a new furnishing project and a selection of outdoor fabrics transform the terrace into a real open-air room with the addition of two ‘privee’ areas available to guests.
The result is a chic, elegant and cosy room that, although very different from the previous one, maintains the magical and warm atmosphere that has always characterized this location. A place where you can find yourself, feel good and live a 360 degree experience immersed in the splendid scenery of the Ampezzo Dolomites (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
A piece of Cortina d’Ampezzo’s history revisited with a contemporary spirit, for lovers of mountains, cuisine, good wine and beauty in all its forms.
