Andy Warhol. Serial Identity

MA*GA Museum in Gallarate from January 22 to June 18, 2023 hosts the exhibition “Andy Warhol. Serial Identity“.
Curated by Maurizio Vanni and Emma Zanella, the exhibition traces the artist’s production through more than 200 works from private collectors and international institutions, including such famous cycles as Flowers, Campbell’s Soup, Death & Disasters, and portraits of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Mao Tsê-tung.
The works are flanked by an extensive section devoted to films made by the artist, a previously unseen section devoted to Andy Warhol TV, and a complete set of vinyl covers made by Warhol.
The exhibition brings to Italy for the first time Exploding Plastic Inevitable, an extraordinary performance made by Warhol with the Velvet Underground and Nico, reproposed in an immersive key.

Saporiti Italia, Main Partner of the exhibition, brings to the rooms of the museum its iconic Jumbo armchairs, a special edition of the original seat designed by Alberto Rosselli in 1968, reinterpreted in color by leading international architectural firms.
This collaboration is part of the Inside Art project through which Saporiti Italia supports various art and design institutions around the world through research projects, exhibitions and installations curated by famous international designers.

The twenty Jumbo armchairs exhibited by Saporiti Italia at MA*GA create an unprecedented dialogue between Italian design and the pop aesthetics of Andy Warhol, recalling some characteristic elements of the eclectic production of the great American artist such as color and seriality.
The seats featured at MA*GA are part of a limited edition specially made by Saporiti Italia on the occasion of the important retrospective entitled “100+1 / Alberto Rosselli for Saporiti Italia” that the ADI Design Museum in Milan dedicated in October 2022 to the work of Alberto Rosselli, one of the greatest masters of Italian design.
