Black and white residence

Studio Svetti Architecture is behind the design of the private residence G103 in Arezzo, a home that emerges from the perfect fusion of black and white, representing yin and yang, within an interior design project where these colors symbolize transformation and evolution. This chromatic duality reflects the journey of the homeowners, who transitioned from a couple to a family, embodying the union of opposites and the balance of the Tao.

The choice to base the project around these two contrasting hues is not merely an aesthetic exercise. It is deeply rooted in a symbolic and even archaic imagery that, even unconsciously, resonates within, conveying a sense of primordial strength from which everything originates and transforms.

Originally conceived as a single-family home, the house underwent a renovation that divided it into two separate units. The intervention focused on the southern portion of the building, creating a residence that unfolds over three levels, each corresponding to different phases of the family’s daily life. The basement houses utility spaces and a garage, the ground floor is dedicated to daytime activities such as the living room, kitchen, and dining area, while the first floor is entirely devoted to the sleeping area.

The spaces are defined by white vertical walls with a velvet touch finish and deep black satin oak flooring. This formal rigor and clean lines are occasionally interrupted by custom-designed furniture pieces, created by the studio, introducing moments of controlled chaos that enrich the overall harmony of the space.
