Castaldi is once again the protagonist of outdoor and indoor architectural lighting. The essentiality of the outdoor, indoor and urban architectural lights reveals the high technological performance of the products; the research on finishes, colours, details, refer to the world of design to restore charm and humanity to the project. For the first time, technical lighting investigates the emotional and experiential sphere with a series of products made entirely in Italy. “Working on an Italian lighting excellence like Castaldi was a very complex and challenging operation. We identified the codes from which the brand was born and based on these we built the brief for the new collections: we focused on the architecture of the product and the engineering of light, which are the two founding themes of Castaldi’s history,” says Marco Acerbis, Castaldi’s product curator.
All of the collections are made from die-cast aluminium, with the exception of Rosebud, which is made using the hydroforming technique and represents an innovation in the field of outdoor lighting. Designed by Neil Poulton, the line is a tribute to nature. “My work is very much influenced by the sculptor Constantin Brancusi, whose ability to reduce material to its essentials I appreciate. In this project I have combined this quest for minimalism with a new way of understanding outdoor lighting: until now, this kind of lighting was inspired by the architectural world, by the buildings in which the lights were inserted; I thought, instead, of creating a harmony between the lamp and nature. The result is an illuminating branch, reminiscent of rose bushes,” says Neil Poulton. The Scottish designer has also designed the Nail family for Castaldi.
Another prestigious name in design joins the Castaldi way: the Swede Olle Lundberg signs the Disc project. A simple ring with great design complexity gives rise to a series of proposals in different sizes, from the 60 cm high bollard to the five-metre pole designed for public spaces. Each Castaldi collection is available in different variants and can be customised to the utmost degree with the modular Way Linear System project for indoor use. Also for indoor spaces, the company updates and reissues a great classic: Sosia
