Archmarathon Awards is an International Architecture Contest. From 2014 to 2018, it has picked 230 Works (all fulflled projects) by as many Architecture and Design studios, from 40 countries worldwide. The Five-year Journey on which the 230 Projects selected, assessed, submitted and explained onstage represented (and indeed still represent) a fully fedged, extraordinary snapshot of contemporary architecture worldwide.
Awareness of this consideration prompted the idea to create a project that would consecrate and seal this extensive piece of research. The result will bring together every piece of work submitted to past editions of the Archmarathon Awards (2014-2018) in a single, enthralling Exhibition during the upcoming 17th edition of the Venice International Architecture Biennial. A memorable exhibition of global scope, which will last for the entire duration of the Biennial, to be held in an extraordinary Venetian location. Access to the Exhibition during the Biennial will be free of charge. Upwards of 100 thousand visitors are expected in the six months of the exhibition.
The Scientifc Curatorship will be entrusted to architect, architecture critic and curator of competitions worldwide, Luca Molinari, formerly the curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Biennial. He has also chaired every international Jury of the various editions of Archmarathon Awards from the very outset.
The projects and architectural works will be represented with a major display project, divided into thematic maps and enhanced with a multimedia system to create an extraordinarily emotive impact. The exhibition will be housed in one of Venice’s most prestigious locations, and will be included on the communication line-up of the 2020 Biennial. Featuring majestic volumes, an extraordinary number of square metres for display purposes and an exceptional location, the building chosen will only be revealed in late December 2020, but will contribute towards ensuring the Exhibition is a success.
As with all Exhibitions, a prestigious Catalogue will be produced, bringing together all 230 projects displayed and architecture studios involved.
