The 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano will take place from 7 to 12 June 2022 at Fiera Milano Rho. After two very difficult years due to the pandemic, the Salone is now looking ahead, aware of its long history. The objective is ambitious: to demonstrate that it is possible and necessary to return to the creation of major international events in the presence, merging criteria of sustainability and environmental care with the production of furniture.
The Salone del Mobile.Milano has launched and circulated a series of guidelines to help exhibitors and those who design and build stands to follow basic sustainability criteria. They are suggested to prefer the use of reusable, recycled, low environmental impact or FSC and PEFC certified materials; to consider the logistic sustainability of material supply sources; to use environmentally safe products and equipment when setting up stands; to avoid wasting materials, electricity and water.
In doing so, the 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano will provide a stage for the progress made by creatives, designers, brands and companies on this issue and, by involving the young talents of SaloneSatellite, will bet on the new generations who, having grown up in a time of crisis, aspire to fairer and more responsible production and use.
Environmental and social wellbeing will also be the theme of Design with Nature, the installation designed by architect Mario Cucinella for the Salone’s “birthday” and housed in Pavilion 15 of S.Project: 1,400 square metres that will tell the story of a virtuous ecosystem that would ideally represent the future of living.
The 2022 events will bring together more than 2,000 exhibitors in total, including over 600 young designers under 35: everyone will be able to express their identity to the full, in complete creative freedom. At the fair, visitors will walk through the stands, which will be both architectural and communicative elements. Spaces that will welcome visitors to showcase the new collections and lifestyle concepts of the individual brands.
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Salone Internazionale del Complemento d’Arredo and Workplace3.0 will offer numerous aesthetic paths, where the protagonist is a product of quality and research.
June will be the biennial edition of EuroCucina, its side event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) and the Salone Internazionale del Bagno. The kitchen will be confirmed as a multifunctional space, an expression of contemporary living, whose boundaries with other domestic environments are becoming increasingly blurred until they disappear.
S.Project, the exhibition dedicated to design products and solutions for the world of design, will be back, highlighting the most significant lines of research into surfaces and solutions that make it possible to move from the design of individual pieces to that of the environment.
The 23rd SaloneSatellite will feature more than 600 designers. This year’s theme will be “DESIGNING FOR OUR FUTURE SELVES / PROGETTARE PER I NOSTANI DOMANI”. An edition that will invite us to reflect on design that “includes”, promoting autonomy, comfort, movement, usability, interaction and safety for all. The SaloneSatellite is also renewed in its layout, designed around the theme of the piazza as a meeting place.
An interesting programme of Talks is back: Chiara Alessi, Maria Cristina Didero and Beatrice Leanza will be weaving the threads of these encounters, which will focus on mankind, the planet, beauty and design.
The 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano will also cross the borders of the Fair to arrive in the city: from 7 June, in the Sala delle Cariatidi of Palazzo Reale, a monumental site-specific film installation will be staged dedicated to 11 values that have always been imprinted in the DNA of the Exhibition. 11 art-house films by 11 great Italian directors will be screened, who have interpreted a key word according to their own stylistic style, transforming it into an art-house short film.
Numerous other events and collaborations will frame the exhibition of excellence in the world of design.
